I was in a brief conversation with Miss World 2013 Megan Young last month during the dinner she hosted for Team Bata. Out of the blue, we got to talking about the Bb. Pilipinas 2015 candidates and we singled out the stronger ones. The name of Janicel Lubina was mentioned. Her face lit up, and quickly said, “I wish she will get a good crown.”
We all know that Janicel was 1st Princess to Megan’s Miss World Philippines title last 2013. Because of the constant togetherness then, the latter was able to know the Palaweña deeper – her dreams and aspirations included.
This really got me into thinking. Janicel is indeed the best bet of Kagandahang Flores for a major crown this year. Not that I am discounting the efforts of Hannah Ruth Sison to nail one in her 3rd try. But Binibini 11 is pure beauty power that has pierced through the minds of different pageant groups, regardless of camp affiliations and preferences. If she fails to leave a mark in the minds of the judges come March 15, then something must be wrong somewhere.

So is Janicel 100% ready for a good crown? I believe she is. Now, as to what that good crown refers to, it will all boil down to which international competition she will be a perfect fit for.
A Bb. Pilipinas crown is a Bb. Pilipinas crown. For as long as the word “Tourism” is not attached to it (no offense meant to Parul Shah), then it’s all good. Very good even. ;-)
