For the first time in its eighteen-year history, Miss Earth Philippines crowned a representative from one of the Filipino Communities abroad. And Silvia Celeste Cortesi of Rome, Italy is the successor of Karen Ibasco. She edged out heavy favorite Zahra Bianca Saldua of Las Piñas City who had the upper hand going into the announcement of winners. The latter settled for Miss Earth Philippines Air. The audience at the Arena were in for quite a surprise because if the basis was the final Q&A, then the ranking of winners would have it differently. But according to an inside source, a Goddess-like candidate is likely to be favored this year. Hence, the selection of the statuesque Fil-Italian model as our representative to Miss Earth 2018.
The other placements in the elemental court had Berjayneth Chee of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental for Water, Jean Nicole de Jesus of San Rafael, Bulacan for Fire and Halimatu Yushawu of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay for Ecoutourism.

More about the new set of winners of Miss Earth Philippines 2018 soon!

Miss Eco International 2018 Cynthia Thomalla has stayed for so long in Cebu that many non-Visayan pageant followers must have concluded that she is a Cebuana. Well, she actually takes roots in Macrohon, Southern Leyte where her Filipina mother and German father have taken residence ever since moving from Germany when she was just a kid.

Sarah Rose Summers of Nebraska wins Miss USA 2018. A Registered Nurse, she impressed the judges with her beauty and smarts, especially during the Q&A portion. She succeeds Kara McCullough who was the host delegate during Miss Universe 2017 in Las Vegas.
By now, the call for entries is intensive. It’s the 50th edition of Mutya ng Pilipinas and the organizers – headed by its President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo – are reaching out nationwide and to the Filipino Communities abroad to assemble its biggest number of Official Candidates ever – fifty (50). And so far, the list is growing by the day. I have seen some of the early contenders. All I can say is that this is definitely going to be the best batch ever in its long years of existence.

Miss Universe Philippines is in El Nido, Palawan at the moment to do a feature shoot in Lagen Island Resort for Inquirer Lifestyle. In between takes, she went swimming and snorkeling and got crazy sunburnt as well. She is definitely enjoying the workcation mode.
Here is a big shoutout to our youngest Bb. Pilipinas 2018 Queen who is celebrating her very special day.

Tonight, one of the twenty (20) gorgeous candidates above will be crowned Miss Kaogma 2018 at the Freedom Sports Complex in a big finals production that will seek to find the successor of Julia Gonowon. Hosts Rachel Peters and Robi Domingo will lead us through the proceedings, together with special guest Ian Veneracion.

During last Friday’s pre-judging and finals of Miss Kaogma 2018 at Villa del Rey in CWC and the Freedom Sports Complex in Pili, Camarines Sur, one candidate really wowed all the judges the minute she presented herself. She is only 17 years old, stands 5’8” and has Filipino-Indian ethnicity. Her name is Rheema Alfonso Adakkoden, the newly-crowned successor of Julia Gonowon and is also the recipient of the title of Miss Millenial Camarines Sur.

I always appreciate spending time with Miss Millenial Philippines 2017 (and Miss Kaogma 2017) Julia Gonowon. During my judging stint at the Kaogma Festival last Friday night, we had quality time together before and after the finals where she relinquished her crown in Camarines Sur. And I can easily tell that she is bound for bigger things in the pageantry world. For sure, we will see this sweet and charming 5’7.5” of a beauty doing one of the big leagues come 2019. After all, she has the right ingredients to shine even more.

Tamaryn Green is the newly-crowned Miss South Africa 2018, and she is looking to be like another tough opponent for our Catriona Gray come Miss Universe 2018. Some people are even saying that she has that similar vibe to our Queen.
Stephie Venice Zanoria Cabahug of Cognizant is the first-ever BPO Queen during the finals held at Mall of Asia Arena last night.

Yesterday at the Kalayaan Room of St. Giles Hotel in Makati Avenue, the sixteen (16) Official Candidates of Miss Makati 2018 were introduced to select members of the media in an event that will form part of the celebrations for the 348th Foundation Anniversary of the City of Makati, also called Makati Makisalo. One of them will be crowned as the big winner on June 9 during the Finals to be held at Globe Circuit Makati Event Grounds.

You all know by now that Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray went on a trip to Tokyo, Japan for both leisure and pageant-related reasons. She was accompanied by Ton Lao and Harley Tan. Aside from doing a bit of the touristy activities, she also met up with Miss Universe Japan 2018 Yumii Kato.

In this blog entry are BTS shots of Miss Eco International 2018 Cynthia Thomalla during her latest photoshoot – a retro-inspired Barbie theme that really made our Queen shine like a doll!

With the latest official shoot of the Bb. Pilipinas 2018 Queens over and done with (watch out for the Raymond Saldaña photos soon!), Michele Gumabao is starting to fine-tune herself for the task of winning yet another Miss Globe crown for the country. While the rumored hosting of Vietnam for this year’s edition has not been announced so far, she is ready to compete wherever the host city or country will be.
